About Us:

What is Summer Fest ?

Every year a phenomenon takes place as hundreds of teenagers invade a college campus for a week at a time. From the opening greeting to the final farewell hugs something unique takes place. It’s hard to pinpoint if it’s the absurd games, the challenging speakers, the caring adults, the uncontrollable laughter, or the honest time to talk, but somewhere it hits you, this isn’t your normal summer camp.

For a week during the summer, teens have the chance to get a way from real life. Students have the opportunity to hang out with people from all across the Midwest, to deepen friendships and to talk about God. Every day speakers come to share inspiring and challenging stories about real life, God, and where the two intertwine. The days are packed with fun surprises of all kinds. From the music, the movies, the games, the speakers, and club - all with laughter to tears - Summer Fest really has something for everybody.

There are two qualities that set Summer Festival apart in the camping market. The first is we understand that camp needs to be more then a one week event. We make sure that when a church decides to come to Summer Fest that they bring their own own adult leader from the church. This way there is a familiar face going into the experience, as well as someone who can share the experience with teens when camp is over. The second quality is we are a non-denominational camp. By focusing on what really binds us, Jesus Christ, we are able to minister to teens from every walk of life. Because there is an adult along and there is discussion time every day, the students get to debrief and try to relate how the day's lessons connect to their faith journey. Another advantage of being non-denominational is that students can bring any one of their friends without fear if they will fit in.

This summer, see what life can really be. Attend Summer Festival, experience what really matters: God, good friends, memorable times and lots of laughs.

Who is Youth Forum?

Youth Forum is an outreach organization working with youth groups, youth leaders and communities in the Upper Midwest.  Our mission is to provide programs that give teens the tools they need to lead healthy, productive lives.  The organization was founded in 1979, in part as a result of the leadership of then Governor of the State of Minnesota, Albert Quie, a member of our first Board of Directors.  Our programs include Summer Festival camps, Faith Matters retreats, teen issues education (such as drug abuse, sexuality, relationships, positive decision-making, etc.), leadership training and internships, and year-round mentoring. Youth Forum's existing junior and senior high school programs reach more countless teenagers and youth leaders each year.

Youth Forum’s retreats, education, leadership training, networking and mentoring programs were founded on the belief that each community has the potential within itself to meet the needs of their youth.  Youth Forum travels to communities to bring together concerned community leaders, youth workers, clergy and business people as a catalyst for creating joint youth service outreach to kids.  In addition, each group that participates in a Youth Forum retreat or camp is asked to bring local youth leaders and counselors for their group.  These leaders take part in training, support and mentoring as they participate in the program.  Each group, then, takes back to its community a core of trained, experienced and motivated leaders to continue to impact kids.
